so i was in pvp and i was fighting with necro. so i would smack on some backfire and he got messed up because he kept casting. So i killed him about 3 times like that, so he was like,"RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO you commander m, you a pussy for useing backfire on me". so i replied with, "ok fine when you rez this time i wont use backfire". well when he rez i spiked his first spell, then i power blocked the next spell, then i used phantasm, finally i killed him with shatter disalutions. This took about 5 secs. The necro called me a asshole and left the game. am i really an asshole?

No on the contrary he is a whinner, good job to you. Sounds a lot like my last 2 searings ele/mes and mes/ele 11-1 and 9-0 the second one just us 2 mesmers. When we got the random team we were a little worried, but what can you do? We were hexing everything that moved, it was great watching the warriors heatlh melt.

Ummmm, standing in front of a warrior and not defending yourself while that warrior beats you to death is suicide, and an idiotic playing strategy for GW. Likewise, repeatedly casting spells while you have backfire on you is also suicide, and is also an idiotic playing strategy for GW.

You did nothing wrong. You merely pointed out to him how unfit he is to compete in GW PvP unless he changes his tactics, or maybe build. At any rate, he should maybe learn to run away from Mesmers in the future if he can't counter such attacks better.

1) Clueless players still exist after the game is 7-8 months old.
2) potty mouthed players still exist and will always exist
3) You actually agreed to not casting Backfire because your opponent asked for it? I'll remember that when I'll face you. I'll ask you to not do anything and play sitting duck.
4) Still killing him even though you gave him what he wanted is pretty funny.
5) Asshole? Well, don't know about that, but I'd say you are asking for trouble by starting a discussion on it.

It never ceases to amaze me when me or my team are called 'noobs' after defeating an enemy with such ease.

The only teams which I might flame are those whose build is based NOT upon winning or taking a victory, but are designed to simply prolong the match such that the enemy gives up and leaves!... I dont mind runners, because their strategy is so easily over come that I dont consider it a strategy at all, but for example 4 monks who sit in a ball and heal each other are pathetic.

- You are obviously bragging about killing a player without skill.
- So you are obviously an asshole.

No need to start a thread with no useful information, tip, or discussion on builds/skill/way of using them, or even an opinion on an aspect of the game.

Instead beating him, you should have learned to him how to avoid your skills or don't cast when hexed.
And Necros have many, many, many ways to remove hex or to use skills , like touch skills, which cannot be interrupted or don't trigger backfire.

Don't like very much people toying with newbies... Especially when they brag about it.
It leads to something like this:

Newbie "Ok, I will test my new build!"
Newbie: *enter arena/GVG/PVP battle*
PVP Hardcore Gamer: "Oh, a noob. With crappy build and crappy skill... EH, eh, let's have some fun"

NEwbie: *pwnd*
PVP Hardcore Gamer-local channel: "Ur a noob"

Newbie: retry and *pwnd*
PVP Hardcore Gamer: "Stay playing Doom"

Newbie: retry and *pwnd* " URgh! How do you manage to interrupt me like this!"
PVP Hardcore Gamer: "Ur a noob. You r so crappy you don't even deserve me to pawn u"

That is indeed horrible, but your example is pure fantasy. Nothing like that happened in this case ! The necro started being impolite and the reaction of owning him without the use of backfire is in no way "messing with newbies".
It is still the point of the game to beat your opponent, you know ? You think the reaction should have been to let the necro own next time ? The OP should have said: ow i am sorry i will stand still and let you kill me ?

I don't like people messing with newbies as well since i was a newbie myself like we all have but i really don't see that happening in this case. The example you gave is in no way analogous to what the OP described. Now the newbie even learned something: he should counter instead of calling people pussies for using a certain skill.

"You are a pussy for using backfire on me" is what the newbie said....you call that innocent ? If you are respectless yourself to begin with, don't expect any respect back. That is a very important lesson all online gamers of any game have to learn sooner or later.

There is a fine line between teaching someone to PvP and harassing them with words like noob and owned. As long as you respect the other player there shouldn't be any hatred.

I would love to get owned by some of the top guilds if only they would share one tip with me each time.

Wasting a skill slot for backfire in PvP... priceless.

Wait... he should run away from a memser? Why? He will do more wanding than running. I must say that people are also getting smarter, monks with remove hex... /mo with remove hex... heck soon people might realise that backfire is as good as epidemic on a target with no conditions. The day I see no more backfire cookies... what a day that would be.

... Honestly that necro was a morron falling victim to such a skill.
